The Global Recycled Standard (GRS) is an international, voluntary product standard that aims to increase the use of recycled materials in products and minimize the harm caused by production. The standard sets requirements for products with at least 20% recycled material, certifying each stage of production. It focuses on third-party certification of recycled content, chain of custody, chemical restrictions, as well as social and environmental practices.

Our Factories Are GRS Certified!
The Global Recycled Standard requires organizations involved in the production and trade of GRS products to maintain a verified chain of custody, right from input to the final product for claimed recycled material. Compliance with the Content Claim Standard is necessary, and the term "Claimed Material" is replaced with “GRS Material.”
Xcel Bespoke has obtained GRS certification for its factories, demonstrating our commitment to sustainability. Our GRS certification allows us to purchase GRS materials from certified suppliers. Thus, for orders that use GRS materials, a GRS Transaction Certificate is provided as evidence of using GRS-certified materials in production.

For every order that incorporates GRS materials, we diligently provide a GRS Transaction Certificate. This certificate serves as a comprehensive record, detailing the product name, product number, and percentage and specific type of GRS material used. This documentation establishes a transparent paper trail that verifies the use of GRS certified materials in our production processes.
As part of our GRS compliance, through regular audits and checks, we make sure our factories and suppliers adhere to the standards and objectives set by the GRS principles based on the principles of the Global Social Compliance Programme.
Driving Sustainability Through GRS
The Global Recycled Standard (GRS) is instrumental in promoting sustainability and fostering responsible production practices. By embracing and complying to GRS principles, we can contribute to the well-being of the environment and promote sustainability in the following ways:
Driving Innovation in Quality Improvement
GRS drives innovation by addressing quality issues associated with recycled materials. By setting standards and encouraging continuous improvement, it promotes research and development efforts to enhance quality and performance of recycled materials.
Increasing Recycled Content
By setting requirements for products with at least 20% recycled material, the GRS encourages businesses to incorporate more recycled materials into their production. Also, only products with at least 50% Recycled Content qualify for product specific GRS labelling. This helps reduce demand for virgin resources and in turn minimize environmental impact.

Hazardous Chemical Prevention
The GRS prohibits hazardous chemicals in recycled materials production. By doing so, it ensures materials used in products meet stringent safety standards, protecting both consumers and the environment from potentially harmful substances. This promotes safer and more sustainable manufacturing practices.
Promoting Accurate Content Claims
The GRS sets standards for accurate content claims, ensuring that products labelled as "recycled" truly contain recycled materials. This helps prevent misleading claims and greenwashing and ensure that customers are provided with reliable information about the sustainability credentials of the products they purchase.
Social & Environmental Responsibility
GRS certification provides assurance that materials used in products have been sourced and processed in a socially and environmentally responsible manner. This includes considerations such as good working conditions, adherence to labour standards, and compliance with environmental regulations.

In conclusion, the Global Recycled Standard (GRS) is a vital tool for promoting the use of recycled materials and reducing negative environmental impacts. It ensures that accurate content claims are made, encourages good working conditions, and promotes responsible chemical management.
Xcel Bespoke's GRS certification exemplifies our dedication to environmental responsibility and sustainability. By embracing initiatives like the GRS, we can create a more sustainable future and make informed choices that benefit both the environment and consumers!
